Valentine’s Day

Barbados

Lots of love and laughter in the office as we feasted on sweet treats for Valentine’s Day.

London

On Valentines’ Day we decorated the office, had some chocolates and wore something pink, red, and/or white to join in the festivity 😊

Cyprus

At the Cyprus office, everyone picked a name out of a hat and made that person feel special on Valentine’s Day - with flowers, chocolate, coffee or breakfast.

The most voted influential organisation that as company we made a donation to, is nominetwork.org!

As last year, please find on LinkedIn the second edition of our Women in Leadership interviews.

Mumbai

The Mumbai office celebrating International Women’s Day.

London

We hosted a healthy breakfast in the London Office kitchen. The team is wearing purple as it is the colour linked with women’s rights ever since the suffrage movement adopted the shade in the early 20th century, and it is now the colour of International Women's Day.

Cyprus

On Women’s Day, we commenced the day with a special breakfast and coffee event, acknowledging and appreciating the remarkable contributions of the women within our team.

We are proud to have an all women Team in Linguarama Torino 😊

Barbados

On March 27, the Easter Bunny brought a traditional Bajan breakfast to the office – ham cutters and assorted pasties, along with candy, of course!

Chicago

Trivia:

As our office tradition goes, we continued with Trivia Tuesdays, testing the office’s knowledge of pop culture, riddles and general knowledge. We set up a bracket and had individuals compete until we had one winner who took home a gift card.

Chili Cook Off:

We had a few individuals prepare their own special chili recipe and submit it for taste testing. They all tasted delicious, but only one came out on top.

Book Club:

Each month we vote on a book to read together and discuss it at the end of the month. So far this year we have read “Galatea” by Madeline Miller. We have also read “Battle Royal” by Ralph Emerson for Black History Month. We are currently reading “I’m Glad My Mom Died” by Jennette McCurdy, a pick we made for Women’s History Month.

Bake Off:

Just like the Great British Bake Off, we had the ultimate baking battle where our passionate bakers competed to be crowned the office's best baker. The theme was St. Patty’s and our bakers were so good, we couldn’t pick!

Employee Appreciation Week:

During Employee Appreciation Week (Monday, February 26 - Friday, March 1), we designated time to recognise and appreciate employees’ contributions to the office and organisation overall. We had various activities, events, and gestures aimed at showing gratitude and boosting employee morale. We had Chair Massages, In-Office breakfast and treats, and wrapped up the week with a fun happy hour in our office kitchen. The goal is to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the employees in our office.

MLB Opening Day:

In order to celebrate the Major League Baseball (MLB) Opening Day, which is the day on which the regular season of MLB games begins, we had the office dress up in their favorite team’s jersey (most of us are either for the White Sox or the Cubs) and ordered some game food – hot dogs and chips.

Flight Club:

Wrapping up and celebrating the quarter end, we went to Flight Club for some darts, drinks and general office socialising.

Montreal, West Island and Laval

Downtown and the Eclipse:

The Downtown office had a memorable experience as colleagues gathered to witness the eclipse together. This shared experience served as a refreshing break and we experienced this rare event together.

DA in Chicago:

In April, the marcus evans DA Montreal Team embarked on a productive visit to the Chicago office, marked by a series of engaging workshops, team meetings, and collaborative work sessions. Throughout their stay, they seamlessly integrated into the office environment, fostering strong connections with their Chicago counterparts. In addition to their professional endeavours, the team also took the opportunity to explore the city, indulging in sightseeing activities that enriched their cultural experience and provided moments of relaxation amidst their busy schedule. Overall, their visit served as a testament to the power of cross-office collaboration and the value of fostering personal connections beyond geographical boundaries.

Book Club:

In March, the Downtown office initiated a new book club, aiming to foster intellectual discussions and a sense of community among colleagues. For the month of April, the club delved into “My Year of Rest and Relaxation” (2018), a thought-provoking read that sparked insightful conversations.

As the month drew to a close, the Montreal book club took a proactive step, reaching out to other marcus evans offices. This initiative swiftly gained momentum, transcending borders and evolving into an international endeavour spanning offices in the USA, Canada, and even Cyprus.

Excitement surrounding the expansion of the book club has been palpable, with employees from various locations eager to participate. To join this burgeoning community of readers, anyone at marcus evans can reach out to Emily Berube-Palsboll, the office admin, at emilybe@marcusevansmo.com. This initiative underscores the company's commitment to fostering collaboration, intellectual growth, and camaraderie across its global network.

About the T&D Summit in April:

The Transmission and Distribution Summit held in April was a resounding success, drawing industry professionals from across the globe to the Encore in Boston. Among the attendees were Dillon Buckley, Jonah Akerman, and Tom Reid from the downtown Montreal office, who actively participated in the event. Their engagement and contributions added significant value to the summit, reflecting positively on both their expertise and the company as a whole.

From the West Island:

Reporting from the West Island, Jeremy Stanton-Boyce has just returned from an eye-opening two-month stint at our Sydney Office. Jeremy had the opportunity to work closely with our Australian Summits team, attend our HR and CFO ANZ summits in Brisbane, and experience the fun diverse culture of Sydney!

The rest of the team in the West Island kept up the momentum in recent months. The team scored multiple new business deals and achieved significant milestones from February to April and finished off the quarter on an exceptionally high note! The success streak continues as the team gears up for a jam-packed summit season in May and June.

From Laval:

The Laval office is beaming with pride as Tom Valkanas celebrates a significant milestone: landing his first deal for Medical. In just about two months since joining the marcus evans team, Tom has demonstrated remarkable dedication, skill, and determination, culminating in this impressive achievement. Well done Tom!

Cape Town

marcus evans Cape Town Olympic Games:

On March 8, staff in Cape Town had the pleasure of participating in a team building event organised by the management. The event was impactful and enjoyable. From start to finish, it was well executed, leaving a lasting impression on everyone involved. The activities and groups were thoughtfully selected to foster communication, trust and engagement among team members. We were all challenged to work together.

The atmosphere encouraged participation. There was lots of fun and laughter, and one must agree that there were many competitive participants, many who took the leadership roles for the day.

Saturday Hike in the Mother City:

Some colleagues gathered on a Saturday morning to enjoy a 2hours+ hike in the mountains just before we approach colder days in the Cape.

Kuala Lumpur

Breaking bread and building bonds, staff came together for a meaningful Iftar gathering, celebrating unity, diversity, and the spirit of Ramadan.

Mumbai

We held our quarterly office party on April 26.

London

To celebrate the Easter holidays, the London Easter bunny delivered a little sweet treat to everyone in the office.

Cyprus

Over recent months, the Cyprus office has enjoyed a variety of social gatherings, including casual after-work drinks and a lively barbecue at our offices to celebrate “Stinky Thursday” (Tsiknopempti) a tradition preceding the fasting period where we indulge in meat-centric meals. These occasions not only strengthened our sense of community but also offered precious opportunities for relaxation and bonding outside our usual responsibilities.

Barcelona

A long day of fun and healthy physical activity playing outdoor paddle. All followed by snacks and drinks and crowned with different prizes for our winners!

Islamabad

The Islamabad office having Iftar together, spent an evening filled with love and laughter to celebrate the blessed month.
